Three TLC Cheers for our Amazing Sunday School Teachers!
Teacher Appreciation Day is Sunday, June 7th

On Sunday, June 7th, we will recognize all of our Sunday School teachers for their time and dedication. Trinity is very blessed with a dedicated group of Sunday School teachers who care deeply about their students and about Christian education. Let’s all be sure to recognize their efforts and let them know how much we appreciate them:

Preschool and Kindergarten – Lynn Miller
Kindergarten – Terry Kenck and Sue Pershall
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grades – Linda Clark and Bob Kenck
4th and 5th Grades – Don Baxter and Marilyn Johnson
Confirmation/Middle Schoolers – Daniel Pershall
High School – Brian Brown
Children’s Choir – Siri Preston

Thank you, Sunday School Teachers, for everything you do for Trinity’s Children!

June 7 will also be the last day of Sunday School for the school year.

Attention JAMers!
Next JAMer Activity is Sunday, May 17th

Fourth and Fifth Graders – JAMers — will see the 2:00 p.m. showing of Seussical The Musical performed by Journey Theater Group (formerly known as Christian Youth Theater). Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge–not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friend-ship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

Please bring a sack lunch to eat after the worship service. Transportation to Fort Vancouver High School for the performance is provided. Return to TLC by 4:30 p.m. Sign up by Sunday May 3 at Children’s Ministry Bulletin Board to have a ticket reserved for you.

Day Camp Planning Meeting
May 3rd at noon
In Activities Room
Day Camp and Vacation Bible School: July 6-9 (M-Th)
Theme: What Matters Most

Through the experiences of the Old Testament friends and the words of Jesus, campers of all ages will dis-cover What Matters Most in our lives. As we journey along with Abraham, Jonah, Ruth, Israel and Jeremiah, their stories will encourage us to live boldly, remembering God’s truth and promises every day. The lessons we learn from their lives point to what Jesus said was The Greatest Commandment: to love God and love others. Join us this summer for a grand adventure that will encourage and challenge us to live out What Matters Most.

As you know, Vacation Bible School and Day Camp is the single largest event of the year for Children’s Ministry, and it’s also the single greatest outreach for Trinity Lutheran Church. It might just be the most important thing we do in Children’s Ministry, from a perspective of reaching our community, as well as building on the relationships we have with our own young members, and the relationships they have with God.

To do all of this well, it takes a lot of people. Next Planning Meeting for VBS is May 3rd after the service, in the Conference Room. Please plan to attend if you have a child coming, or if you’d like to help out some way.

If you see something interesting up there, but are unsure of the commitment, think of sharing the job, or ask me what it truly entails. Chances are, it’s not as big as you might think. Thank you for your consideration of helping out with VBS-Day Camp.
