January 2015 Tidings VOLUME 55 NUMBER 5
WE ARE JOYFULLY GATHERED TOGETHER BY GOD’S GRACIOUS LOVE IN JESUS CHRIST TO WORSHIP HIM, TO GROW IN FAITH AND TO PROCLAIM JESUS BY WORD AND SERVICE.
“It Is the Lord!”
After Jesus’ resurrection, the disciples were out fishing, and Jesus appeared on the beach. But they did not know it was Jesus. “Children, you have no fish, have you?” Jesus asked. They answered him “No.” He said to them, “Cast the net to the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in because there were so many fish. That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” (John 21:4-7)
We got our boat ready, prepared with eggs and meal and concert. We threw out our nets, sent out invitations to our neighbors, and friends. We asked the Lord to give us a catch. And…WOW! Easter Saturday of the Eggstravaganza, before we were even set up to receive children and their families, they started pouring in and filled our nets completely, so that truly we were not able to haul it in! And all we can say is “It is the Lord!”
Recognizing that the Lord is doing something among us is exciting for disciples whom Jesus loves. And this God-activity can FEEL like chaos for disciples whose nets are not used to such abundance. Jesus’ disciples don’t always know what to do with all the change and chaos that the Gospel creates. But this we have come to know and believe, that if “It is the Lord!”, then, it must be good!
We don’t know what all those fish came to be FOR. And we don’t know what all will come from the huge catch on Easter Saturday. But we do know that the Lord has something to do with it. And we will keep on praying for more of His awesome activity among us!
Trinity Kids’ Club! Check it out!
Our church held our first Trinity Kids’ Club on Monday, April 13, 2:30-4:30pm. In the morning of the 13th, we expected to have 6 or 7 children, based on the registration forms received. By 2:30 we had 18 children signed up and participating in our programming!
Programming for Kids’ Club consists of opening worship, snacks, games, Bible Story, crafts, more games, learning about kids in other countries, and a closing time of prayer or sharing.
Fourteen Trinity folks, including a couple youth, helped launch this program. We are very excited to have two more early release days this school year (April 27 and May 11) to welcome these children… and more children! If you would like to include your children, please sign them up. If you would like to help with the programming, talk to Pastor Ruth.
