Getting Ready to Feed Hungry Kids This Summer

Once again, Trinity is looking forward to helping the Share organization feed needy school children during their summer vacation. The location is the same— Brickyard Park on south Lincoln Avenue. The tentative time period (awaiting confirmation of food availability from USDA) is June 27—August 12. We will be distributing the prepared lunches but volunteers also are being sought to deliver those lunches (prepared in an Orchards school) and return unused supplies. Look for signup sheets in the narthex in mid-March. We especially need men to help deliver and help set up our pop-up canopies.

Last summer, we didn’t have much prep time before the program began. This year we will start early to publicize our presence; and Trinity’s youth will be a part of that effort. Also, we hope that we can have one or two volunteers each day to socialize with the children over games and guided-conversation. If you’d like to be a part of that component, indicate on the signup sheet so we can do some early planning plus procurement of games, books and other materials.
