Trinity is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). We partner with the ELCA in many different ways to bring aid to those most in need of it around the world. Read below how Trinity has been helping and click on the buttons to learn more.
The website of the ELCA is a good place to find more information as well.
ELCA World Hunger
ELCA World Hunger is a connected, comprehensive, and compassionate program that helps individuals and communities lift themselves out of poverty into self-sufficiency. Through our giving and caring, through our advocacy and action, we make a life-saving difference.
ELCA World Hunger’s international work is carried out with its trusted partners, notably Lutheran World Relief and the Lutheran World Federation. Because of these long held connections to partners around the world, ELCA World Hunger efforts are efficient and effective.
God’s Global Barnyard
Your gifts to God’s Global Barnyard support the sustainable development ministries of ELCA World Hunger, which include training, education, resources (and much more) to help the community care for animals and create new market opportunities like starting a small business selling eggs, meat or dairy products. Your gifts support this comprehensive approach to animal husbandry. Trinity’s Foundation administers a perpetual Global Barnyard Fund, established by a deceased members’ bequest. Periodically, accrued interest will be forwarded to the ELCA Program to provide animals to deserving families. Members can purchase animals for the program through ELCA Good Gifts.
Lutheran World Relief – LWR
LWR is a joint ministry of the ELCA, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), individuals and parish groups involved in international relief, development, advocacy and social responsibility. LWR also advocates for Fair Trade that helps farming families and artisans earn a better income. Trinity sells their Fair Trade coffee, tea and chocolate products the second Sunday each month in the Narthex.
Bread for the World
Bread for the World is a collective voice urging our nation’s decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad. Trinity conducts an Offering of Letters as part of Bread for the World’s national campaign urging members of the U.S. Congress to take crucial actions identified as necessary to progress in the fight to end hunger.
